I love to do my Bible study directly in my Bible. I color and draw little pictures or write what God has revealed to me. At times I add sticky notes with more thoughts and ideas and things I feel I have to pray deeper into. I love the feel of the thin pages under my fingers and the way my eyes glide over the words. Like God is writing especially to me... However there are times when I use the Bible app on my phone and highlight the verses important to me. I will then take one night and sit with God and mark them in my Bible while busy with Bible study. Last night was one of those nights. Pencils on the side, I started marking and scribbling the highlighted verses when I came across one verse...

“I am thinking up a plan, that when it is hatched, will bring blessing to the whole wide world.” - William Booth (Founder: Salvation Army)
Two and a half years ago I fled my Egypt. We packed our belongings and left the old as we knew it without even a glance back. God said to trust Him. He will go before me and fight for me. He did. In the past years we've been in our wilderness. Going back and forth, not having anyplace to really call home. Still trusting God, He said He will provide. He did.
The inspiration for our new devotional - Love’s Gift – came after reading the touching story of Hattie May Wiatt. Grab a box of tissues, and enjoy this beautiful story…
I was honored to be invited to the wedding of a dear family friends' daughter. I haven't been to a wedding in a while, so the whole process of selecting what to wear was a lot of childlike fun. (Unknowingly adding to the excitement of the feast.) I loved to get dressed up, put on a little make-up, sort of force my feet in the highest heels I could find (I don't know what I thought when I bought them...) and put on the daintiest dark stone teardrop earrings. I felt like a sought out guest of honor when I looked in the mirror, the excitement a bubbling fountain within my heart.
“And Jesus said: Go, from now on sin no more.” – John 8:11
A couple of years ago I attended a course at church. The aim of the course was to discover who you are in God (or at least partially discover), as well as God’s will for your life. To say the least, it was life changing! One of the topics covered in one of the modules, was that of sin. And the presenter shared her revelation on the impact of sin in your life. In the years to come that changed my thinking about what we see as the truth, how wrongly we interpret the instruction to “go and sin no more”, and how we sadly start to justify our own wrong doings because we believe that we become saint like the day we react to an alter call in church (ouch!). How many of us ladies, when we meet that one man in our lives, either take matters into our own hands or give it to God, and ask our Father if this is the man He has chosen for us - His daughter?
How many of us, when we know this is the man, are really committed to praying for husbands/men in our lives? When was the last time you took your man’s hands into yours and said a prayer for him? Does he even know that you cover him in prayer? So many women are under the impression that they don’t need to pray for their man as “he seems to have everything in control” or that “he has a close relationship with God.” Really? Have you ever thought that he too may be under the attack of the enemy from time to time, or to maybe pray for his safety to and from work, or that meeting he has been dreading all week? When I decided to make time to sit down and start writing ideas down for the "Hallo Time" devotionals, I just didn't get the time to do it! All these things started taking up my time and the more I tried to apply time management, trust me, I didn't manage. Throughout the running around and rushing to get things done and to get to everyone, I had to go stand still, breath and ask God to give me time.
“Just look at us. Everything is backwards, everything is upside down. Doctors destroy health, lawyers destroy justice, psychiatrists destroy minds, scientists destroy truth, major media destroys information, religions destroy spirituality and governments destroy freedom.” – Michael Ellner
