I was honored to be invited to the wedding of a dear family friends' daughter. I haven't been to a wedding in a while, so the whole process of selecting what to wear was a lot of childlike fun. (Unknowingly adding to the excitement of the feast.) I loved to get dressed up, put on a little make-up, sort of force my feet in the highest heels I could find (I don't know what I thought when I bought them...) and put on the daintiest dark stone teardrop earrings. I felt like a sought out guest of honor when I looked in the mirror, the excitement a bubbling fountain within my heart.
Whilst sitting in the beautiful little rustic chapel and just enjoying and taking in everything around me, I felt at peace with these two souls who will soon be united as one before God. Anticipation to see the bride grew when the groom took his place in front with the biggest, goofiest smile I've ever seen. The most beautiful music filled the chapel and every body rose as the big double wooden doors creaked open. With my eyes still on the groom, I saw the change of expression cross his face when he saw his beautiful bride: it was pure wonder and love. I turned to see a tearful bride walk down the isle on the arm of a very proud father and I saw her mother crying tears of pure joy. The whole chapel was filled with anticipation, excitement and most of all love.
Taking my seat on the little rough wooden bench, I wondered if this is what it feels like in heaven? The whole of heaven waiting in anticipation and excitement for the bride of Christ to make her entrance. To stand in amazement of the beautiful love between Christ and His bride. Jesus CHOSE us, with all our faults and shortcomings, to be His bride for eternity. To be one with Him.
Although we sometimes feel not worthy of being Jesus' chosen one. We argue with God that we are not the person for the calling on our lives, that we've sinned and is not worthy of Him. Basically we are throwing a tantrum due to pre-wedding jitters!! God created you, He loves you, He chose you! No sin in your life is ever bigger than the forgiveness of our God. And because He loves you so, He betrothed you to His Son, Jesus. And heaven is preparing and anticipating the greatest wedding day of all!
Revelations 19:6-10 "And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thundering, saying, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’ ” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.” And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
