I love to do my Bible study directly in my Bible. I color and draw little pictures or write what God has revealed to me. At times I add sticky notes with more thoughts and ideas and things I feel I have to pray deeper into. I love the feel of the thin pages under my fingers and the way my eyes glide over the words. Like God is writing especially to me... However there are times when I use the Bible app on my phone and highlight the verses important to me. I will then take one night and sit with God and mark them in my Bible while busy with Bible study. Last night was one of those nights. Pencils on the side, I started marking and scribbling the highlighted verses when I came across one verse...
Zechariah 2:5 "For I,’ says the Lord, ‘will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.’ ”
I reread it a couple of times. Slowly the most beautiful promise just sunk in my heart, nestling itself in the depths of my soul, knitting together a promise of love and protection. The last few weeks was very busy and I went through several spiritual ups and downs. It felt like God said: No matter what, I will be a wall of fire around you. Suddenly I felt safe. Protected. At peace and in the arms of my Father.
But this verse doesn't stop there. God makes a deceleration and says: "I will be the glory in her midst" I have to always remember that it is never about me, only about God. To praise and honor Him, for He is Glorious. When people look at me, they should see God. When they look at the works my hands did, they should rather see the work God blessed my hands to do and give Him all the Glory! I loved the idea of having God around me like a wall of fire, but then I realized that His Glory is Fire. If He is the Fire around me, He is also the Glory! God is Glory! Glory like Fire!
My prayer is that God will be a wall of fire around you, just as He is for me. That His Glory will be in your midst and that you will walk in His presence. May every moment of your life be Blessed.
