We said our last goodbyes to a friend this past week. When we received the news of his passing on Friday morning, all sorts of thoughts went through my mind. What happened? Why him? He was so young! But as the day progressed, I realized what a huge role he played, and what an enormous impact he made in our community. He was an amazing husband, a remarkable father, a family man, but also a true friend and dedicated pastor. He was one of those people with 27 hours in a day, because he somehow managed to spend time with everyone!
“But I say, walk and live habitually in the Holy Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God). For the desires of the flesh are opposed to the Holy Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are opposed to the flesh (godless human nature); for these are antagonistic to each other [continually withstanding and in conflict with each other], so that you are not free but are prevented from doing what you desire to do.” - Galatians 5:16-17 AMP
Whilst having a conversation with myself about life, God showed me that part of the true meaning of life is to find purpose. To live a Godly, purpose driven life! To pray about your purpose and to look within to find your strength in God; to be able to share it with the outside world. And that he did! Because as I read through his Facebook messages Friday afternoon, I could see how much his time and input in people's lives were valued. What a huge difference he made to those around him. And how absolutely loved and adored he was! He found his true purpose, his Godly calling, and he lived it! “Many plans are in a man’s mind, but it is the Lord’s purpose for him that will stand.” – Proverbs 19:21
My prayer for everyone reading this today is that you will also find out what God’s plan is for your life. To find your Godly purpose, so that you will be able to live a meaningful life!
Chris Russel shared this advice on how to find God’s purpose for your life:
May you experience God’s presence every step of the way, as you enjoy this journey called life!

Chris Russel shared this advice on how to find God’s purpose for your life:
- Walk with God: If you are interested in knowing God’s plan for your life, then you must learn to walk with God. You need to develop a relationship with Him. Christianity is all about relationship rather than just religion. Seek to know Him and not just seek to know about Him.
- Surrender your will to God’s: Many times when we say we are seeking God’s will, what we are really wanting to say to God is this: “OK, God, here’s what I’m planning to do. Now I need you to rubber stamp this, all right?” Before God will begin to reveal His will to you, you must be committed to doing whatever it is that He desires for you to do.
- Obey what you already know to be God’s will: Many people seem to want to know what God’s plan is for their lives, but they overlook the fact that 98% of His will is already delineated carefully through His Word. God is very clear about many, many aspects of His will. For instance, it is clearly His plan that we abstain from sexual immorality (1 Thessalonians 4:3). Obedience is an important first step!
- Seek Godly input: One key component to finding God’s will is to seek the input of godly advisers in your life. Think of it this way: you should understand that you are basically a composite of the five people you spend the most time with. So, then, it is vital that you choose those five people well. If you choose to surround yourself with godly advisers, they will be instrumental in helping you discern God’s plan for your life.
May you experience God’s presence every step of the way, as you enjoy this journey called life!
