“When the Lord saw her, His heart was filled with pity for her, and He said to her ‘don’t cry.’ Then He walked over and touched the coffin, and the men carrying it stopped. Jesus said: ‘Young man! Get up, I tell you!’ The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.” – Luke 7:13-15
We so often see that people harden themselves for the emotions of those around them. We look at others, and for a brief moment feel pity, and then move on with our lives. Can you imagine if you lived so Spirit filled, that you feel the emotions of others? Imagine experiencing someone else’s joys and sorrows! Jesus had true compassion with this woman who just lost her son. Let’s move our focus back to Jesus and do what He taught us, and not what the world is expecting us to do. Because it is not about me, but all about Him.
Prayer: Dear Lord, today I ask that you will awaken my spirit, so that I can have true and honest understanding of other people’s emotions. And so that I can show kindness towards people, the same way Jesus showed compassion with the woman who lost her son. I tend to stumble and fall over words if I encounter a situation where I need to be supportive. Guide my tongue and direct my thoughts on You, so that I can live by faith and not by sight. Amen
