“For wife, how can you be sure of converting and saving your husband? Husband, how can you be sure of converting and saving your wife? Only, let each one lead the life which the Lord has allotted and imparted to him and to which God has invited and summoned him.” – 1 Corinthians 7:16-17
I’m sure we have all felt the disappointment of trying to help someone, just for that person to end up exactly where he / she started? I can recall more than one situation where I desperately tried to change someone’s life for the better. Unfortunately I tried to do it, instead of interceding and allowing God to do the work, in His time! Because you see, it is only human to lend a helping hand. And even more human to pray and believe, but if things don’t happen quickly enough to our liking, to take matters into our own hands. And then to end up frustrated and emotional afterwards, because the person did not co-operate on our terms. We need to learn to humble ourselves, pray without exception, and allow God to guide each of us on our journey. Intercede, don’t interfere!
Prayer: Dear Lord, today I want to apologise for the times that I interfered with Your work. The times I didn’t understand Your plans, and didn’t consult You, but instead tried to do what I thought was best in someone else’s life. Please remind me daily that I need to keep my eyes on You, because only then will I be able to see that You have a plan with each and every life on this earth. And even I though I don’t understand Your timing, I know that You keep an eye on each and every one of us. You will always create a path in the wilderness. Amen
