1 Kings 21:7 “Then Jezebel his wife said to him, “You now exercise authority over Israel! Arise, eat food, and let your heart be cheerful; I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.”
Just as we get the beautiful, positive queenly qualities, we also read about the negative qualities portrayed by women in the Bible. They are recorded for one specific reason: for us to learn from and to carry the wisdom of the good and bad qualities in our hearts for our discernment. Jezebel is one of those examples. We strive to give our best to our spouses. We want them to be the best and have the best. But at what cost? Would you take unmoral, unlawful actions to get what you want or to obtain earthly status for your husband? Is this how some think to bring honor to their spouse? It is of utmost importance to guard your heart against these qualities and to focus on the Godly qualities our Father placed in our hearts.
Prayer: Father, please forgive me the times where I chased the world and tried to give and get out of my own desire. Where I tried to please instead of honoring as Your Word teaches. Grant me the wisdom to discern between worldly qualities and Godly qualities. Amen
Spiritual Growth: Before you make hasty promises today, stop and ask God for discernment. Before you do something to “please” anyone, stop and ask God if it honors Him first and foremost.
