Verse: Genesis 3:20 “And Adam called his wife’s name Eve, because she is the mother of all living.” Remember in Genesis 2:20 Adam named the cattle, the birds of the air, and every beast of the field. It was part of his command from God. By naming these, he calls them to him to be able to rule over them. Here we see (yes for the first time) that he named the Woman. He called her Eve, the mother of all living. With this, he is making a public statement that he accepts her, calls her to him and will accept the responsibility to rule over her. In our society today, men still does the same thing. What is the pet name that your husband gave you? And when He calls you by it, don’t you respond naturally? Eve was the first woman to be named and called by man. |
