James 1:13-14 “If people are tempted by such trials, they must not say, “this temptation come from God”. For God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself tempts no one. But people are tempted when they are drawn away and trapped by their own evil desires.” Discussion: Do you know people who refuse to take responsibility for their own lives, but prefer to blame everything on someone else? And have you maybe ever blamed someone else for something that happened in your life, while secretly knowing you also played a part in the mess? Prayer: Ask God for forgiveness if you have ever blamed someone else for things in your life, where you know you played a role as well. And ask God to strengthen your desire to do what is right, instead of being dragged down by your own (sometimes evil) desires. Spiritual Growth Challenge: Consciously put someone else’s needs before your own needs today. Be a little flame lighting someone else’s dark path, and let the light lead them to get to know God (don’t say anything, just do something good!). |
