Whenever we do something really fun, or if my daughter really enjoys something, she would make the exclamation ‘best day ever’! And although it is hard to believe that Jesus’s crucifixion was the best day ever for any of His family or friends, it was indeed the best day ever for each and every one serving Him. “The Sovereign Lord will destroy death forever! He will wipe away the tears from everyone’s eyes and take away the disgrace His people have suffered throughout the world. The Lord Himself has spoken!” ~Isaiah 25:8
And that is exactly what Jesus did on the cross for us! He destroyed eternal death forever. What a wonderful fulfillment of a promise. A promise made whilst none of the Old Testament prophets had the privilege to experience this total freedom. The good life! Back in Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers & Deuteronomy we read all about the rules and rituals God gave to Moses to share with the Israelite's; on what to do, how to do it, when to do it, whom to perform it, what to use to perform it, how to handle certain situations, and of cause how to deal with sin? Sin became almost like an epidemic after the Garden of Eden, and God had to set certain restrictions. Every time we read about the act of forgiveness in these books, we see how God commanded |
them to offer their best cow (sheep, goat, etc.), and how blood was shed to beg for forgiveness. Blood obviously played a huge role in the whole forgiveness ceremony. It was a life (animal) for a life (human). “Indeed, according to the Law almost everything is purified by blood, and sins are forgiven only if blood is poured out.” ~Hebrews 9:22
The price was paid, Jesus already died on the cross, and the blood of the perfect Lamb (without any blemish or mark) was shed to serve as forgiveness for our sins! Nothing more can be done, and nothing less will take it away. We just need to accept it, live by it, and pay it forward! “Instead, be kind and tender-hearted to one another, and forgive one another, as God has forgiven you through Christ.” ~Ephesians 4:32

Forgiveness is not about approving a person’s wrong behavior, but rather accepting and loving the person although they are not perfect, and setting them free. We need to follow the example Jesus set for us, so that we can enjoy the good life, instead of clinging on to grudges and bitterness! “So he got up and started back to his father. He was still a long way from home when his father saw him; his heart was filled with pity, and he ran, threw his arms round his son, and kissed him.” ~Luke 15:20 Enjoy every moment of freedom you have in Christ, run to Him with arms wide open, love Him; and love the people God send to you, forgive the ones who hurt you, make peace with your past, and enjoy the good life with Jesus Christ our Savior! |
