This morning I was standing in the queue at the bank. And in front of me, there was a gothic girl. She was dressed gothic, her hair dyed black, nose ring, heavy make-up, tattoos…the whole package. I stood behind her, staring and admiring her bravery. She made a decision that she wanted to make a statement about who she is, and she is living it whole-heartedly. While this thought played in my head, God said to me that if we only make Him half a truth, we will never have the full experience! So the remaining 20 minutes in the queue I spent pondering on this, while I just couldn’t stop my fascination with the boldness of the girl in front of me.
In Matthew 9:29 we read “Then Jesus touched their eyes and said, ‘Let it happen, then, just as you believe!’ ” The question is, what do we believe? Because the same Jesus that performed miracles back then, still touches eyes to see the truth. The problem with all the hidden rules of society, is that we try to fit God into them as well. So instead of living one hundred percent for our Saviour, we only give Him the percentage that fits our lifestyle. If we only believe when and how we want to, God will never be able to reveal Himself completely. And without our own revelation, we will not be able to understand the whole truth.
How serious are you about receiving answers, and how often do you ask questions after reading a Bible chapter? Like why would Paul have written “Be alert, stand firm in the faith, be brave, be strong. Do all your work in love” in 1 Corinthians 16:13? Why tell us to be alert, to stand firm in faith and to be strong? Previous in the same chapter he wrote “There is a real opportunity here for great and worthwhile work, even though there are many opponents” (verse 9). We need to foster a curiosity for the truth, become courageous (just like the gothic girl) and develop the same God-confidence as the Biblical writers. Stand up for what you believe in, and have the full experience. The experience of living and experiencing God 100%!
The bad things that happen in life is not sent by God to teach you any kind of lesson, so don’t allow it to stop you from becoming the best you that you can be. Our God is “merciful and good, He is compassionate” – Psalm 116:5. Don’t let your circumstances stop you from believing and acting on your faith. God is caring, gentle, forgiving and kind-hearted. God is love! Give God permission to use your ‘bad experience’ and help you to make a testimony out of it, so that you can testify of His greatness and mercy! Because by forgiving others, you set yourself free. And if you are free from bondage, you are free to live God 100%!
“Since we have such glorious hope, we speak very freely and openly and fearlessly.” – 2 Corinthians 3:12
Thinking about the gothic girl again… She lives with boldness and bravery. She is not ashamed to show the world who she is, and she couldn’t care less what anyone thinks or if people stare at her. And if we can develop that same sense of belonging to the Kingdom of Christ, and that same urge to go out and show the world what we stand for and what we believe in, we will be able to share in the glorious hope and live one hundred percent for our King!
Be blessed

PS: I am praying that the gothic girl will have an encounter with our living God, if she is not already serving Him. Because with that fearlessness, she can only make an impact and difference wherever she goes!
