This is why I love my past
“Yet amid all these things we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us.” – Romans 8:3
Depending on what your past looks like, we often times don’t really want to talk about it. And if we talk, we don’t want to go into too much detail. Why? Because it reminds us of shameful and hurtful experiences (sometimes our own doings, and sometimes the doings of others). But focus on the positive aspect of your past today. Your past shaped you into who you are today, and you have learned valuable lessons from it. Though there is no reason for your past to define you, it did set you apart to make you a unique being. A being that serves a purpose in the Body of Christ. And with God on your side, who can be against you? It doesn’t matter what happened in your past. What matters is that you are victorious, because you have made a decision to follow our Saviour. So love your past, but focus on your future.
Prayer: Thank God today for your past, for every beautiful memory you have, and every single person that played a positive role in your life. Thank God for your parents, teachers, friends and family who all played a role in developing you into the person you became.
Journal entry: Write down at least three wonderful childhood memories, which you believe played a role in shaping you into the unique person you are today.
