Have you ever watched children staring unashamedly wide eyed at Christmas lights? The mystified awe playing across little faces. I remember, as a little girl, the fascination that captured my heart around Christmas. How mystified I was by the twinkling lights, like the stars from heaven on earth for only a season.
Amanda Cook (Bethel Music) sings the following: "May we never loose our wonder. Wide eyed and mystified, may we be just like a child, staring at the Beauty of our King" She sings this song "Wonder" spontaneously and was not written or rehearsed beforehand. Every time I hear and sing these words, I remember the little girl who once was mystified by the wonder of Christmas. I realized that the only difference is, I am now mystified by the Glorious splendor of God. And I will forever be... Shepherds stood mystified as the angel of the Lord brought them the good news and the multitude of heaven sang: "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men" Luke 2:14. What an amazing sight this would have been! Wide eyed and mystified.... |
I like Christmas. This is the time of year when me and my God family celebrate the birth of our King. The one day chosen in all the history of humankind when the Son of God breathed His first breath as man. (Though, historically the date is not correct, but this is the time we choose to honor it.)
Obeying the Word of God and seeing the baby Jesus, they made it widely known. "And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds" Luke 2:18. Yes, even those who heard of Gods Glory and the birth of Jesus where wide eyed and mystified.
God fascinates me with His splendor. Daily. Every aspect of Him, is beautiful to me. Which is why I will forever stand before Him, wide eyed and mystified. And this is my prayer for you: May you never loose your wonder. May you always be wide eyed and mystified, always like a child, staring at the beauty of our King. May God touch your heart and fascinate you with His Glory. Amen.
Be blessed this Christmas
