Psalm 92:5 (Amplified) How great are Your doings, O Lord! Your thoughts are very deep.
The past weekend we had our long awaited first rain for the summer in Pretoria, and everyone was equally thankful that
the dust can settle and the plants can begin a new life cycle. Whilst the clouds were gathering in the sky, I recalled a
casual conversation I had the other day, and I just realized all over again how abundant and incalculable God is, and how
carefully He plans everything.

Who else than our Creator would have been able to interweave everything together in such perfect harmony? Every
morning the sun rises, and purposefully start his tasks again. It lights up the sky to rule over the new day (Gen 1:16), it
separates light from darkness, with an exact amount of energy it drives the life cycle of the whole of creation, and within
that creation it breaks itself into perfect smaller pieces to complete the cycle.

One of those pieces is called the hydro-logic cycle (water cycle), whereby the sun spontaneously slurps up tiny bits of water to form a water mass up in the sky. Tons of water evaporates into thin air, in such a small form that our eyes can’t even see it, and then forms gigantic clouds filled with the same water which elegantly drift miles above our heads. The wind, without asking any questions, gently shoves these clouds precisely where God determines. And then the clouds split open to soak the earth with small droplets of water on exactly the right time in exactly the right location with exactly the right amount! And when God feels satisfied, He commands the water mass to close so that the wind can continue to propel the clouds to where it is needed. How great is God's goodness and how great His beauty is! (Zechariah 9:17) |
In 1885, Carl Boberg was also inspired by the wonders of God, and wrote a beautiful Hymn which sums it up perfectly! How great Thou art Verse 1: O Lord my God! When I in awesome wonder Consider all the works Thy hand hath made. I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed. Refrain: Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee; How great Thou art, how great Thou art! Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee: How great Thou art, how great Thou art! |
It brings tears to my eyes every time I hear these words. Because how great is the works of God, how great to think that
He planned every intimate detail of your life even before you took your first breath, and how absolutely amazing to think
that God created all His wonders for you and me to enjoy. May you also be inspired by God’s beauty, and think about His
almighty splendor every time you see the rolling thunder!
Isaiah 40:28 Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of
the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of h is understanding. Selah
