I am one of those people who admire great architecture. I can spend hours walking in and around buildings, gliding my fingertips over the stone and think of the song "All in all, it's just another brick in the wall..." But I appreciate the vision of the pioneer and the blood and sweat mixed with the mortar as the building rose to it's height. With today's modern technology it's a lot easier to construct a building, but back in the day... it was manual labour to construct these beautiful historical artworks called we still admire today.
Mark 13:1-2 "Then as He went out of the temple, one of His disciples said to Him, “Teacher, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!” And Jesus answered and said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone shall be left upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”
The disciple saw the beauty of the temple. The craftsmanship, the talent and time it took to plan and build something so spectacular! His worldly heart appreciated what he saw. Jesus called his disciples from everywhere but the temple and maybe he never saw a temple like this before and accepted this is what a temple of God should look like.
Jesus looked at the temple and knew!
He knew that people and religion will rip the bricks apart from the mortar holding everything in place. He knew that the beauty of the temple will be destroyed by the enemy who wishes to destroy the truth of Gods word. Jesus didn't see the earthly temple, but the eternal one built in the hearts of those who love Him. He didn't see the stones toppled on top of each other being called "temple". He already knew of the new temple in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Let us open our eyes and see the truth God reveals to His children. Let us stand together and unite as the eternal temple of God. We are His building. And you are another brick in the wall of Gods temple. His Love is the mortar holding us together.
As we celebrate Easter this weekend, remember the reason Jesus died for you. Remember He is building a beautiful place for us in His Kingdom: Heaven.
